Dana Fariss

My mom stepped up for me when I couldn’t. I am 10 years sober now. I have a now 17yr old daughter and when my daughter was born I was struggling in life. I lost custody of my daughter due to my addictions and my mom was able to adopt her. Last year my daughter came home from school with a friend that wanted to spend the night. After few days we found out the girls was was a drug addict and was living in hotels. We went to bring the girl back to hotel with her mom and mom just packed and left. Now my mom also have custody of that now 17yr old girl. My mom now has custody of two 17yr old girls. Yesterday the day before Thanksgiving my mom had a hip replacement. After raising three children of her own including me that was a very troubled teen she is raising two more. I could not think of someone else who deserves this more than her.

John DeAngelis

Johnny is one of the nicest individuals I have ever known greeting everyone with blessings. He lost both of his Achilles and is in a lot of pain and it is difficult to walk and work. His wife is in Jamaica this past year and extended due to extensive Hurricane damage. He struggles everyday to work and I can’t imagine another winter with no heat. Johnny is so positive and kind and so deserving.

I recently became unemployed and I’m not able to fix the system we have. We are currently using a fireplace and space heater. I was in the process of becoming a foster parent. I have to put that on hold right now because you need heat in the home. I am a single mom to a wonderful 12-year-old girl. We try to help others as much as we can add this opportunity would help us so much.

Beth Devos

Hello, we have been without central heating since 2010. I lost my job at that time and when our boiler died we were not in a financial position to fix or replace it. We have been heating our home with a combination of a wood stove and electric space heaters since then. I am an RN of 31 years who injured myself moving home hospice patients, and this is severely impacting my ability to be hired in a role I can physically handle, so I have been out of work since February. Our house is equipped for both gas and oil. We currently have no furnace; my husband dismantled it and sold the metal for scrap. We needed the money. At this point, my husband is 67 and is starting to struggle with chopping enough wood to keep our house warm. I'm sorry that I can't provide a picture, but our furnace has long since disappeared. To be able to actually walk into a warm house in the winter would be so wonderful. The last 3 years have been difficult ones for us, for so many reasons that are irrelevant here. To have the level of comfort central heating affords is something we would be so grateful for. Beth and Jon DeVos

Michele Rapheal

In March this family had a house fire. Due to financial struggles their home insurance had lapsed so no coverage. Luckily the home is a block home so kept standing. Michele has heart failure and has been quite ill so unable to work. They have been trying to rebuild but it is very expensive so it's slow moving. They are living in the home as they work to fix it. They have 3 children still at home. 17, 9, and 7. Her husband Joe had been working for a plumber for about 4 years when he just got laid off about 2 weeks ago, making things more difficult. Michele was born and raised in Cape May County. They had moved away for a few years when I, her mom had cardiac arrest so they came back. They own their home, where in process of selling when they canceled that n came back. Seems their lives have been a struggle for quite a long time and truly are appreciative of any help they can get. They basically are rebuilding their home. They lost everything but their lives and their pets lives. Please consider them. They have electric heat and I dont think works in all the rooms.
