Did you know you can heat and cool your home using the earth? Geothermal heat pumps keep getting more popular, and Atlantic City Electric customers can now get rebates of thousands of dollars per system on top of 0% financing.

The ground is an excellent temperature regulator. A few feet below the surface it stays at a steady temperature all year. Our team at Comfort Now by Bob McAllister can walk you through the whole process.

How do geothermal heat pumps work?

Geothermal systems circulate a treated antifreeze liquid through a closed underground loop. On a chilly day, the earth warms the liquid. A ground heat exchanger pulls the heat from the liquid and hands it to the heat pump, which spreads it through your Cape May Court House, NJ, home.

In the summer the heat pump works in reverse, like an air conditioner. It removes heat and humidity from your indoor air and moves it into the ground. The cooled air cycles back through your ductwork.

Geothermal heat pump facts

  • They are among the greenest systems on the market.
  • They don't burn gas. They use heat that's naturally stored in the ground.
  • One geothermal heat pump handles both heating and cooling. Many conventional systems need two units: an air conditioner plus a furnace or boiler.
  • Geothermal heat pumps use up to half as much electricity as a standard HVAC unit. By switching, you can save up to 70 percent on heating costs and up to 50 percent on cooling costs per year, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  • You can expect a geothermal heat pump to run efficiently for up to 25 years, and the piping to last over 50 years.

Geothermal heat pump installation and replacement

A geothermal heat pump is an exciting project, and our Comfort Now by Bob McAllister team will be with you every step of the way.

We'll assess your property to choose the right loop. Installation requires excavation. Smaller lots may need a deeper dig for a vertical loop, while larger properties allow the piping to spread out horizontally at a shallower depth.

We'll also take measurements in your living spaces so the heat pump moves air where you need it most. Talk to our team for a free consultation and an accurate estimate, and ask about the rebates and 0% financing above.
